Hammertoe is when one or more of your toes elevate. It can be caused by sudden injury or over time as the tissue wears out because of aging. In some cases, hammertoe causes the knuckle of the toe to become prominent and rub up on the top of the shoe.

What are the signs and symptoms of hammer toe?
