Torn Meniscus

Torn Meniscus

The meniscus is a C-shaped tissue that acts as a shock absorber between the bones in the knee. Overuse and twisting can tear the meniscus. Injury is usually accompanied by a “pop” at the time of injury and later, swelling and pain in and around the knee. Acute tears happen suddenly. Degenerative tears, which are more common in older people, occur over time.
