Tendon Transfer

When hand function is impaired, Keck Medicine of USC orthopaedic surgeons may perform a tendon transfer to restore use and relieve pain. The procedure takes a working tendon from another part of the body or from a donor and reroutes it through soft tissue to connect the muscles. If the area has significant scarring or damage, a successful transfer may be difficult.
