The USC Hand Center at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles takes an advanced approach to the treatment of patients with hand and extremity disorders. Our surgeons have unique expertise in problems of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, including conditions such as carpal tunnel, fractures of the hand and wrist, trigger finger, arthritis of the hand and wrist and complex brachial plexus injuries. We also have extensive experience with patients who have complex fractures, nerve injuries, trauma, burns, tumors and rheumatoid arthritis.
The USC Hand Center team combines orthopaedic and plastic surgery expertise to treat injuries such as fingertip trauma or the loss of a limb. We specialize in upper extremity reconstruction, reconstructive replantation of the upper extremity and vascularized bone and functional muscle transfers. Common conditions treated include carpal tunnel, trigger finger and fractures of the wrist and elbow.
We are also leading authorities in reconstructive microsurgery, and limb and digit replantation. Our highly skilled microsurgical team uses microsurgery, or surgery preformed with the use of microscopes and thin needles, for a variety of treatments, including transplantation of a bundle of nerves, muscles and blood vessels to restore not only motion in the arm and hand, but also the sense of touch.
Through our collaboration with leading physical and occupational therapists, we are able to help patients recover from their injuries and return to their everyday lives. Our comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach – providing leading-edge microsurgery together with therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education and functional training – gives our patients exceptional outcomes that change lives.
Our physicians also have unique expertise in the care of professional musicians and treat members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Learn more at the USC Performing Arts Medicine Center.
